DRY NEEDLING AT PREMIER CHIROPRACTIC

Dry Needling is mainly used for musculoskeletal conditions and it involves inserting a thin, metal acupuncture needle directly into a trigger point or tight and spastic muscle. Needling allows us to break the pain cycle and decrease muscle contraction, reduce chemical irritation, improve range of motion, decrease pain, and improve ease of movement. It’s commonly used to reduce pain by the release of anti-inflammatory chemicals and endorphins, improve muscle function, and reduce swelling and scar tissue formation by increased healing.

Dry needling is a highly effective treatment of headaches and for various muscle/inflammatory conditions and can be used to treat a variety of musculoskeletal complaints.

Frequently asked questions

Dry needling is a modern treatment technique where a sterile, single-use, fine filament needle is inserted into the muscle to relieve tension and pain.

The purpose of dry needling is to trigger the muscle’s healing response by stimulating the sensitive loci within the muscle or surrounding tissues. This leads to muscle relaxation and pain relief.

While dry needling uses the same type of needle as acupuncture, it is based on western anatomical and neurophysiological principles. It should not be confused with the Traditional Chinese Medicine method of acupuncture.

It is effective in treating various acute and chronic orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions such as neck pain, shoulder impingement, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, knee pain, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, and low back pain.

The sensations experienced during dry needling can vary amongst individuals. Some may feel a slight prick upon entry of the needle, while others may experience a muscle twitch response known as the ‘twitch response’.

Some common side effects include muscle soreness temporarily following the treatment. Patients are advised to use heat or ice and perform specific stretches or exercises to alleviate discomfort.

This is the best experience with a chiropractic office I have ever had. The doctor is very thorough and knows his stuff! I’m noticing huge strides made in my mobility and pain in just a few short weeks. I also love the rest of the staff. His assistant/front desk staff makes everyone feel so welcome! I would recommend this business to anyone. You won’t regret it and it’s very reasonably priced.

Dr murtland is awesome! When I first starting coming I could barley walk. I had a pinched nerve in my lower back. When going over my x-rays he went into great detail to make sure I understood everything. He was very patient, and really takes the time to pay attention to detail.
